The aircraft was scheduled to depart from Lucknow for Delhi at 10:45 am with around 180 passengers on board. Just before departure, airport personnel discovered a handwritten note on a tissue paper inside the aircraft lavatory, claiming that a bomb was present on the flight.
Following the discovery, airport authorities and security agencies were immediately alerted. In line with established safety protocols, all passengers were deboarded and moved to a secure location. Security personnel then conducted a comprehensive inspection of the aircraft.
After an extensive search and verification process, officials confirmed that the bomb threat was completely false. The incident resulted in a delay in the flight’s departure while security procedures were carried out. Authorities have initiated an investigation to identify the individual responsible for placing the threatening note inside the aircraft.
The incident comes a day after a similar security scare at Kannur International Airport. In that case, a note discovered in a waste bin inside an aircraft lavatory on a Mumbai–Kannur IndiGo flight, after landing at approximately 3:20 pm, was initially interpreted by the cabin crew as a bomb threat. This triggered an emergency alert, prompting the involvement of Air Traffic Control and security agencies.
The aircraft was moved to an isolation bay, and bomb disposal and dog squads conducted a thorough inspection. No suspicious material was found, and police later clarified that the note had been misinterpreted, confirming there was no actual threat.
These back-to-back incidents have underscored heightened security sensitivity in civil aviation operations, prompting continued investigations by authorities.
